Oppo has announced the launch of the Reno11F 5G smartphone in Kenya.
The Reno 11F 5G is the latest member of the Oppo Reno11 series to become available in the local market. The Reno11 5G and the Reno11 Pro 5G became available in Kenya in February.
The Reno11F 5G is closer to the Reno11 than it is to the more advanced Reno11 Pro 5G.
While it shares the Reno11’s chipset (the Dimensity 7050 from MediaTek) and storage space, it has less RAM at 8GB compared to the standard 11’s 12GB.
It also gets a flat display of the same size (6.7-inch). By comparison, the standard Reno11 has a curved display.
On the optics front, the Reno11F’s main image sensor (64-megapixel) loses out on the optical image stabilization (OIS). It also lacks the telephoto lens that we find on the Reno11.
Side by side, however hard it may be to notice, the Reno11F is slighlty lighter and a hair thinner than the Reno11.
The device retains most of the software features found in the rest of the series as it arrives running ColorOS 14 which is based on Android 14.
The strip down in some features allows Oppo to price the Reno11F at a much lower price point when compared to the other devices in the same series that it announced in Kenya at the start of the year.
The Oppo Reno11F is available through Oppo’s own website as well as on Jumia and Kilimall at a price of Kshs 50,000. This is a significant drop from the Kshs 68,000 and Kshs 86,000 price of the Reno11 and Reno 11 Pro respectively when they went on sale in the country a few months ago.
“As an exclusive launch promotion, customers who purchase the Reno11F 5G will get amazing gift…” reads part of a statement to newsrooms from Oppo Kenya. From the promotional material we have seen from the company pertaining to this device and its local sales, that gift is likely to be a backpack.
The Reno11F comes in Palm Green and Ocean Blue colour options.
