New software updates rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy J8 handsets in Kenya

Samsung is rolling out new updates to the Kenyan variants of the Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e with improvements to Wi-Fi stability, camera performance, and system security.

The standard S10 is receiving the update with version G973FXXU1ASD5 while the Plus variant is receiving version G975FXXU1ASD5. If you own the S10e, the update is arriving as version G970FXXU1ASD5.

The changelog is the same across the board, with Samsung mentioning things like improvements to the stability of Wi-Fi connectivity, the performance of the camera, as well as a new Android security patch for April 2019.

These updates finally bring the latest Samsung flagships up to date in terms of the security patch level, but given it’s only a few days before May patch arrives, it’s hard to see Sammy catching up with Google.

Also receiving a new security update is the Galaxy J8, but unlike the S10 series, this one is getting February 2019 security patch level. The software version for this is J810FJXS3ASC1.

Samsung only released the update (yesterday for the S10 and a week ago for the J8) and since the rollout doesn’t accommodate all devices at a go, some units will get the download notification later on during the weekend or maybe early next week.

To skip the wait, you can check if the update is available for download via Settings > Software updates and then Download and install manually.
