Gamers and pretty much anyone who is interested in taking a short break from whatever they are doing on their computer and engage themselves in some adrenaline rush can now do so by accessing a number of games found on the Google Play Store from their PC.
This is after Google Play Games PC became accessible to users in Kenya.
Kenya is one of 121 new countries where Google Play Games for the PC, which is currently in beta, is now accessible.
Google Play Games, as the name gives away, is Google’s game repository for Android and, primarily, has been accessible on mobile devices powered by the mobile platform for ages. Now, it is coming to the desktop, to bring the same gaming experiences that users are accustomed to on their smartphones and tablets, to their PCs since PC gaming remains a relatively popular segment. This means that those who install Google Play Games on their PCs can expect to pick up on the same games they have been enjoying on their mobile devices. You know, titles like Asphalt 9 Legends are available from the get-go.
All that one needs to do is visit the Google Play Games page, sign up and then open the email that’s sent to the email address they used to sign up (if you’re already signed in to a Google account, that will be picked automatically during the sign up process) from the computer where they wish to install Google Play Games for PC.
As per the instructions received when we signed up for Google Play Games as well as those listed by Google on its support pages, the following are needed in order for it to run properly:
- at least 10GB free space on the computer’s primary storage medium/default app install location (it has to be an SSD, not the good old hard drives; in cases where a PC has both a HDD and an SSD installed, the SSD should be the primary drive and where the game is installed)
- at least 8GB RAM
- at least 4 processor cores (if they are Intel, the better; 8 processor cores are recommended for better gameplay)
- have an Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU, a comparable unit or something better than it (a gaming-class graphics card is recommended)
- have Hardware Virtualization – and make sure that it is turned on
- be running on at least Windows 10 (v2004 and later)
- be signed in to the admin account of the Windows PC in use
To go with its PC exploits, Google Play Games has been updated to allow users to map preferred keys on their keyboards for gameplay.
